Hi! I’m Shawn and
I’m so excited about becoming a mom! I appreciate your decision
to consider open adoption and I hope my letter and pictures will
give you some idea of the loving home I can provide for your baby.
A little bit about
me
I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and now
live in Apex, North Carolina, a small community near Raleigh
with lots of families and children of all ages. I received a
degree in graphic design and later graduated from culinary school
where I learned baking and pastry arts. For the last 9 years
I’ve worked in the biotech industry, coordinating clinical studies.
I find this job rewarding because it’s a way that I can make
a difference in someone’s life. On the practical side, it offers
me stability and a flexible schedule, so I can be there to enjoy
all of the fun things with my child like field trips and volunteering
in the classroom.
Friends & Family
My parents, two brothers and sisters-in-law are
over the moon about having a new member of the family to love and
spoil! My mom is so excited she’s already making plans to stay
with us for the first few months and my dad has started collecting
toys for the baby. We all look forward to passing on our traditions
to the next generation with trips to California for family gatherings
and of course Disneyland! I have lots of loving and supportive
friends around me who are parents and they’re more than happy to
offer advice and babysitting services. Being an “auntie” to my
friend’s children and sharing in everything from their first steps
to their first soccer game is such a joy. My love for these children
has played a big part in my decision to adopt and I hope one day
I’ll be able to take my own child downtown to admire the holiday
decorations or share some popcorn at a Durham Bulls baseball game.
Why I Want To Adopt
I’ve wanted to be a mom ever since I can remember.
I also always knew I would adopt someday. Although I haven’t met
the man of my dreams yet, I’ve reached a point in my life where
I feel ready to be a parent. I love the idea of open adoption because
I truly believe that it’s important for a child to know where he
or she came from. I’m open to as much involvement as you’re comfortable
with, letters, pictures and visits.
What I Love To Do
Two of my greatest passions in life are traveling
and baking. I’m excited to share my love of both with my child
and I can’t wait to learn along side him or her about the cultures
and foods from all around the world. I’ve collected many recipes
on my travels over the years and I look forward to a house filled
with the aroma of baking French bread and biscotti!
